This project is deeply personal to me. It explores the journey of an international student navigating life in the USA, offering an intimate overview of a life lived beyond borders. My goal was to use narrative and storytelling to evoke a sense of resonance and emotion, capturing the human experience behind the transition to a new country.

Once Upon a Tome

Inspired by a chance discovery at the UHCL library, this sequence brings Oliver Darkshire’s journey as an antique bookseller to life. I imagined this as a feel-good movie title, capturing the cozy, quirky humor of old London streets and the unique characters found within the walls of a bookstore.
To match the vintage feel of the book, I created hand-drawn illustrations in Procreate and Illustrator, using a warm, low-lit palette and silhouettes to mimic the atmosphere of a dimly lit shop. The typography was chosen to reflect old English lettering, ensuring every frame feels as ornate as a gold-embossed cover.
